[G] [C]
[D] [A] Hey there, well that was a request for one of our guitar buddies.
It was the song Reach for it by George Duke.
So let's break that down
[A] Start with the bass
[D] [Eb]
[E] So we got this line that goes down [A] then up
playing [G] A
G
[Am] F sharp
[G]
[Eb] five three [C] two
Okay, and I've got a nice sort of synth sound on my bass and then I'm going D
[Eb] E [E] flat E five six seven and [G]
[Em] then to take me back into the riff I play
Open E G open E
[A] [E] The [D] second time it's kind of nice to double those notes
[Em] just the D [D] and the E flat
so instead of
[E] you got
[D]
[Eb] [C] Okay, but you can really play around with that
I'd live a little bit great front bass line to play and then the bass line for the rest of the song
It's basically [A] this
[G] [D]
[B] [G] [D]
[Am] So I'm playing A
[Em] E [Am] G A
[G] Open E [A] three [Em] five five open [Am] three five
Then a quick open [G] E to a G on three and then an open E again to a G [A] A
[C] [D] C
[A]
[Bm] [D]
Okay, and the sorts of ad-libs on the [Ab] bass all around the A kind of minor pentatonic scale
But that's [Abm] the basic bass line for the song.
So next we'll look at some of those guitar parts
So the first guitar part [G] that I put in there was actually a version of the keyboard part
[D] [B]
[G] So I was playing G D G 5 on the D string
7 on the G string 8 on the B string
And they're just moving that down to get F sharp on 7 so it's then it's 5 7 8
5 7 7 and then I was playing G [D] C and F
[G] So 5 [C] 5 6
on the same three strings
[Em] And they're just [B] moving that down one fret to finish on 4 4 5 F sharp [Em] B E
[G] so
[D] [Db]
So that was the first guitar part and [Em] then I was putting in the actual real guitar part I was playing
E
G E
[A] Then A
[D] So I played it with quite a muted sound using my palm
[A] so E G E A
[C] C on 5 back to A on 7 so 7 5 7 7 5 7
[Am]
[B] Okay
Then I [D] was also putting in a few little kind of stabs around the top of the neck
Around I was bending on G all the way up
Okay on the 20th fret and added a C as well on the 20th fret
You could just throw that in if you listen to the song
There's some just some little guitar stabs thrown in so you can just add lip with those and
Funk it all up, and if you want to do some soloing then you can use the
The a blue scale work perfectly for that so enjoy
Reach for it.
Thank you
