Hey guitar buddies, let's take a look at a song that's great fun to play on an acoustic guitar.
It's Footloose

Okay, so I just played through intro verse chorus there a great fun tune so for the intro I started
With just a [G] bend on a G on three and a slight bend
[A]
before quickly
playing an A chord
Of course on the electric guitar on the record.
It's just playing [C#] single notes, but for the acoustic version
I'm trying to fill it out a little more [E] just to be played.
You know by the one guitar
[A]
[G] so I just do it
[E] [G] repeat that [E] bend [Em] a [A] bend a
Bend a bend a
back twice and then
[F#m] [A] I'm playing it staying with the A chord
But a then [C#] added a C sharp [C#m] on four on the A [A] string
[G]
then a G [F#] F [E] sharp E so on the D [F#] string 5 [A] 4
back to the [D] A chord
[A] So all the while maintaining that partial bar on the second fret for the A
[G] [A]
[F#m] [F#] And then we're into the [A] verse
[B] So the first part of the verse is just an A chord.
[D] I'm just adding those little
D
[A] stabs in
So just playing it.
It's a classic kind of rock and roll trick to just play play the chord in this position
[D] Then add those two notes
to [A] give you the chord a fourth above so [D] a
D A so I'm just adding [F#] an F sharp on [Dm] four and a D on [A] three
Into a D chord
[E] so for that [A] section I'm playing a a
as a partial bar and
[A]
[C] Then play the C to C sharp
[C#] so three to four
[A] [C]
So I play it three times [C]
just hammering from three on the A string [A] to four
[Am]
[F#] [E] And [G] then I'm playing G on five
[F#m] [G] F on four so on the D string
[F#m] [G] [E]
[A] Again, keeping that A chord bar
[E] then C and C [G] sharp again
[C#]
[A] so
[Am]
[C] [Am]
[D] back to a D
[A] [Am]
[D#] Then [B] to a D sharp diminished.
[Fm] So that's one on the D string and two one [A] two
[E]
[F#m] [G]
[E] And this nice progression that takes us into the chorus.
So I'm playing E
then I'm [F#m] kind of
It's like an F sharp
[E] But I'm keeping the bottom and the B and the E strings open.
So just playing C sharp on
four F sharp on four on the A and D strings A on two on the G [F#m] string
the rest of the strings [E] open
[F#m] [C#]
[Em] And playing what would if I was barring be a G chord
But I'm keeping the strings still open
[D] So just playing five five and four
[G]
[F#]
Then back to an E chord again keeping those strings ringing and playing seven [G#] E G [E] sharp
six [B] and four
[E] [F#m]
[Em] [E]
Then we're into the [A] chorus
and for the chorus, I like to play this little riff over the A chord
[C] Then [C#m]
[C] C to C sharp
[C#] [E]
E [F#] F [A] sharp E
[F#] So with adding the kind of chord
[Am] [A]
[D]
play that twice then
D
[A] and one more time on the riff
[F#m] And [E] then repeat that again.
So it's two two of [A] these
[F#]
[D] D
[Am] one more
[F#m]
[A] then repeat
[F#] [Am]
[D]
[A]
So that goes round until last time when we go
[G]
[D] [A]
[G] so we've got a D, sorry G [D] to a D [G] to
[A]
and we go back into the intro of the record
Okay, so that's the chord sequence.
There's a little bridge section where it just goes from some stabs on an A
You [B] get to turn me, you know, you've got to turn me around put your feet on the ground that [A] section
[Bm] And then it goes to an E7
[E]
[F#] I got a cut loose
[F#m] [D] [A] D A keep [D#] going and then we're back in to the chorus.
Okay, so
[E] Nice great simple song to play but a lot of fun.
So everybody get foot loose
It's Footloose

[F#] [E] And [G] then I'm playing G on five
[F#m] [G] F on four so on the D string
[F#m] [G] [E]

[C#]
[A] so
[Am]
[C] [Am]
[D] back to a D

[D#] Then [B] to a D sharp diminished.
[Fm] So that's one on the D string and two one [A] two

[F#] _ [E] _ _ _ And [G] then I'm playing G _ on five _
[F#m] _ _ _ [G] F on four so on the D string
_ [F#m] _ [G] _ _ _ [E] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ Again, keeping that A chord bar _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ then C and C [G] sharp again
[C#] _ _ _ _ _
[A] so
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
[D] _ _ back to a D _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ [Am] _ _ _
[D#] _ Then [B] to a D sharp diminished.
[Fm] So that's one on the D string and two one [A] two _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
[F#m] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[E] _ And this nice progression that takes us into the chorus.
So I'm playing E
_ _ _ _ _ then I'm [F#m] kind of
_ It's like an F sharp
_ [E] But I'm keeping the bottom and the B and the E strings open.
So just playing C sharp on
_ _ four F sharp on four on the A and D strings A on two on the G [F#m] string
the rest of the strings [E] open _ _
_ _ [F#m] _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _
_ [Em] _ _ _ And playing what would if I was barring be a G chord _
_ _ But I'm keeping the strings still open
[D] _ So just playing five five and four
[G] _ _
_ _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _
Then back to an E chord again keeping those strings ringing and playing seven [G#] E G [E] sharp _ _ _ _
_ six [B] and _ four
[E] _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
Then we're into the [A] chorus _ _ _
_ _ and for the chorus, I like to play this little riff over the A chord _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ Then _ [C#m] _ _
[C] C to C sharp
[C#] _ _ [E] _ _
E _ [F#] _ F [A] sharp E _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [F#] _ _ _ So with adding the kind of chord
[Am] _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D]
play that twice then
_ D _
[A] and one more time on the riff _
[F#m] And [E] _ then repeat that again.
So it's two two of [A] these
_ _ [F#] _
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _ D

[F#] I got a cut loose _ _
[F#m] _ _ _ [D] _ _ [A] D A keep [D#] going and then we're back in to the chorus.
Okay, so _
[E] _ _ _ _ Nice great simple song to play but a lot of fun.
So everybody _ get foot loose _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
