[N] I already loved the sound of the [B]
Beale Street [Abm] Sheiks, you know, Frank Stokes, Dan Sane,
[G] from the Kings of the Blues album.
[N]
I remember when we were young you could [A] come into New York and they had [G] every X label [E] at Sam Goody's.
[G]
I wish I had bought them all.
[D] I was buying more like the Harlem [Gb] big band stuff from then at that time.
But that Kings of the Blues thing was something else.
And what came out of that for [G] me was it [Ab] became a really good source for [G]
the Quesken Jug [N] Band.
And [C] also the guy playing [Bb] with Frank Stokes, [Gb] speaking of a great singer, [E] the guy playing
with them, [A] Dan [Ab] Sane, I don't know where that came from, this chunky, chunky, [Bb] bum, bum,
stuff behind him that [F] Jim Quesken does so [G] well.
It's [C] interesting how much that [A] played into the way we approached [Gb] the Jug Band music for
the Jug Band.
These guys were very influential to us.
And [Db] I really feel like it gave us an edge.
[Ab] [Db] We got into grooves in a different way than other people [A] were doing it.
We sort of had a secret key to that particular groove.
[Eb] We've tried to keep doing it [N] too.
