Hey, [N] this is CJ with Piano Clubhouse.
I'm going to show you today Great Is Your Mercy by Donny McClurkin.
Really easy song to learn.
It's only really got one section to it.
It just continues to turn around the same pattern of about seven chords and out of those
seven chords, like three of them repeat in some form or fashion within that pattern.
So you really only have to learn about four chords all together.
It's just a matter of piecing them together correctly to play the song.
Anyway, let's get right to it.
It's in the [Bbm] key of F.
F has [Bb] one accidental, B [Bbm] flat.
[A] [Gm]
Okay, so I'm [N] going to teach you how to play it in respect to playing it as an accompaniment
as opposed to playing it, for example, as a solo.
I'll give you some soloing techniques probably towards the end of the video, but I'll just
start out giving you the basic chords that you can play while accompanying someone singing the song.
Okay, so for the first [Gm] chord, left hand is going to be on G and I like playing [Ab] my
Your
primary [Bb] bass note is G.
You can also hit the [D] fifth, which is D with [Ab] your pointer finger
or your [G] thumb.
Right hand is [Bb] going to be playing a B flat major chord.
F, B flat and D and add the seventh or [Gm] in the key of F it's your third interval from [Bb] F.
F, A, B flat and D.
Next [C]
is a C major chord over C in the left hand and G is your fifth if you want to play it.
Right hand is playing E, G and C.
[F]
And then the next chord, left hand is going back to F [C] and C.
Right hand is [F] going to an F major chord, F, A, [Am] C with the G, [F] but instead of playing this
straight third, I like to drop this [Am] F down a half step.
So I'm playing now E, G, A and C.
Okay?
[C] Let's start from the beginning.
[Gm] Great is your mercy [C] towards me, your [F] loving kind.
Okay?
[Am] [Bb]
And then this passing [Am] chord, I like to play two, five, one over A.
Two, five, one is G, C, F and the [C] name two, five, one I take it from the second note of
the scale, the fifth note of the scale [F] and the first note of the scale, two, five, one.
And if you can with your thumb, [Am] go ahead and hit the second note and third note, the G
and the A.
Left hand from here is going to go up to [Bb] B flat.
Right hand is going to go back to this B flat major chord or four chord.
