Okay, here's a tutorial for
Totos Africa
I covered this one not too long ago
And I was just going back through [N] my emails and saw that I had a lot of requests for tutorials
So I thought I'd quickly do one for you
All right [D#] capo on the second fret
[B] Now the intro [A] part [C#m] [A]
[C#m] [A] so what you're doing here is like it would be a G
But you're only gonna be worrying about the bottom three strings really [F#] so you don't need to worry about fretting down there
[B] Make make as if [A] you're gonna make a G
I'm not sure what I'm strumming here
[F#] [G#] Then
Hit the F [F] sharp so on the sixth string [G#] on the second fret just one pluck we come into [C#m] a B minor
[A] [F#] [C#m]
Strum is what the rhythm of this song is
[F#] [A] [F#]
[C#m] [A] [C#m]
[G] All right
so now [B] first verse a
Lot of bar chords in this unfortunately.
A, if you're chords you're gonna need A
[D#m] C sharp minor
[G#m] F sharp minor
[D#]
D over F sharp minor
[A] G
[C#m] B [G#m] minor
F sharp minor
[C#] And at the end of each line [A] of the verse that
From the intro let [Cm] me just do the first line [B] for you
[G#m] [D#]
[G#m] [A]
[C#m] [C] Okay, so let's just go through [B] it slowly A
[D#m] C sharp minor
[G#m] F sharp minor
[G#]
E over F sharp minor so basically [G#m] what you're gonna be doing with your bar
Just release enough of the bar [F#] so that E is [G#m] open
The rest is still [F#] barred with that part of your finger
[G#m] [D#] [A]
G
[C#m] B minor
[G#m] F sharp minor
[A] And [C#m] you [C]
do that same [D#] sequence for the whole four times for each line of [F#] the verse
[B] [G#m]
[F#] [G#m]
[A] [C#m] [D#m]
[G#m] [F#m] Too long to [C#m] go
For [G#m] each line
[F#] Again
[B]
It [D#m] turns me as [G#m] if to say
[D#] Hurry [A] boy, it's getting late
[C#m] You just sit on that B minor there
For one bar longer Okay
[E] The chorus is [F#m] easier.
It's just E [D] minor C [A] G [E] and D That's it
Essentially until you get right to the [F#m] end So
[D] [E]
[F#m] [D] [F#]
[E] So [F#] it's kind of that same [F#m] strum
[A]
[E] [F#m] [F#] C
D
[F#m] Again
[A]
[E] [F#m] [A]
Okay
Then after the G here you [C#m] go from a D [E] minor
To a D
[F#m] To a E minor
[E] Quick D
Before you come back into [A] your intro
[C#m] Okay, so [F#m] just the end of that chorus
It's gonna take some time to [F#] do the
Things we [C#m] never had
[E] [C#m]
Okay
Do I need to do that again?
[A] I don't think so
Verse two
Repeat the chorus
Repeat [D#] the intro
[G#] You've got a little solo bit in the middle there
Where the [B] piano bit comes in
But it's the same chorus
[D#m] A to the C sharp minor
To [G#m] the F sharp minor
Hurry [A] boy, she's waiting at the [C#m] end
[F#m] It's gonna take a long time [A] to drive you [E] crazy
And that [F#] just continues until you [C] get to the end Basically
So they're the sequences you need
Just that intro [A] bit
[C#m]
The [F#m] chorus part which is easy
C, [A]
[E] G, D Finish [C#m] D minor E [F#m] minor [A] G
And then [C] the trickier part is really just the [B] verse
You've got all your bar chords A
[D#m] C sharp minor
F sharp [D#] minor
[F#] G D minor
[G#m] F sharp minor
[A]
[C#m] Okay
So that's how to play [F#] Africa
